Arrival in Seattle

Arrival in Seattle

The most perfect day imaginable here in the Pacific Northwest! Picked up the bike at Speedy Reedy’s bike shop. Met Big Ride mechanic Tom Anderson-Monterrossa and Big Rider Luke Villalobos. Then a Ferry ride out to Bainbridge Island for lunch with high school friend Paul Aufderheide and college friend Beth Harwood. The enormity of this undertaking has sunk in but I can’t wait to start!

Sara & Coosa

This great adventure is not possible without the incredible love and support of Sara, my best friend and biggest supporter! We will celebrate 33 years of marriage the week I return in August. Thanks for being there for me always. Off to Seattle I go!

Vermont Training Ride

Vermont Training Ride

Vermont, where else? Visiting in Vermont so I took the opportunity to get in a really big test ride. 97 miles, 5200 vertical feet including 2 miles at a 10% grade in 90 degree heat. Not much left in the tank after this one but I feel ready for the Big Ride. We will see soon enough about that!

One Month!

Just a quick shout out to everyone as I get near to this Big Ride across America! Training so far has added up to nearly 2500 miles since January. Just upgraded my bike with the help of my good friends Peter and Jamie at Freeport Ski & Bike. They are really so good and can help you with any bike or ski questions so they get my recommendation! http://www.freeportskiandbike.com. Seattle here I come! Donate to the American Lung Association if you can! http://www.bigride.org

Two Months to go!

Winter is finally letting go here in Maine which means much better workouts on the road as I ramp up my training for the Big Ride.  I am approaching 2000 miles  of biking since January 1st. Only 2 months until we start and I am really getting nervous and excited to get to Seattle. A great big thank you to all my supporters that have donated nearly $8500 to the American Lung Association so far.
